African-American Monument River Street Savannah enjoys more than 250 years of African-American heritage and features a number of historic sites, museums, and tours that focus on the African-American experience. Discover the important contributions that African-Americans have made upon Savannah and the Coastal Empire. If you are interested in an organized tour, we recommend: NEGRO HERITAGE TOUR Savannah's Negro Heritage Trail Tour offers a view of historic Savannah from the African-American perspective, presenting points of black history in the Historic District and narrating the role that African-Americans have played in the culture and history of the city.It spans the founding of the colony to the slave years and Civil War and civil rights eras. Tickets can be purchased by credit card by calling the King-Tisdell Cottage Foundation at (912) 234-8000. You may also purchase tickets with cash or credit card as you board the tour bus. Reservations are recommended.
