If you’re planning an outdoor wedding, Savannah’s city parks and historic squares are some of the most popular wedding venues. If you prefer an indoor wedding, you may want to go the traditional route with a formal wedding in one of Savannah’s historic churches. Perhaps you prefer a more intimate setting in a historic home or charming inn. There are so many wonderful choices, We’re sure you’ll find the perfect location for your Savannah wedding.

Outdoor Weddings

Public Parks and Historic Squares

Savannah’s is a lovely location for an outdoor wedding. You may want to consider a picturesque park setting such as Forsyth Park, or one of her shady squares. The City of Savannah, Department of Leisure Services, issues the permits for rental of parks and squares. Fees vary, but begin at $150 for a three-hour period plus a nonresident and security fee.

Inns, Bed and Breakfasts, Historic Homes

Many of Savannah’s charming inns, bed and breakfasts, historic homes and antebellum mansions offer an intimate, more private outdoor setting in a courtyard or on a grand veranda.

Museums and Gardens

Consider one of the city’s museum or lush gallery gardens such as the Ships of the Sea Museum located in the William Scarbrough House.

Beaching Wedding

There are few locations more beautiful than the beach. A popular wedding location is Tybee Island, just 20 minutes east of Savannah, where you'll find three of miles of soft, sandy beaches. Tybee Island does not require a permit for wedding ceremonies on the beach but if you would like to use the Pier & Pavilion for the ceremony or reception you will need to acquire a permit from the Chatham County Parks Services Office.

Historic Landmarks

You also may consider one of Savannah’s historic landmarks for your nuptials. Choices range from Old Fort Jackson, a national historic fort sitting on the Savannah River, to a rustic five-acre railroad repair facility.

Savannah’s full-service hotels offer beautiful and elegant rooms that overlook the city, the Savannah River or River Street. Most offer both wedding and reception facilities.

Churches

If you prefer a more traditional wedding venue, Savannah boasts many beautiful churches of all faiths. Keep in mind that you need to make arrangements for church weddings well in advance.
